Current listings and prices
Shore Acres in St. Petersburg currently has updating active listings. The median list price is updating and the average is updating. That gap is the story: a lot of mid-century houses sit near the median, while waterfront and new construction pull the average higher. Median price per square foot is updating. Median living area is about updating square feet. Homes stay on the market about updating days (median), with an average of updating days.
Those figures are for this neighborhood, not for all of St. Petersburg. Shore Acres prices above the city median once you get on the water. Use the St. Petersburg guide for the city-wide snapshot.
What this neighborhood is
Shore Acres is a mostly single-family pocket in northeast St. Petersburg, out toward Tampa Bay and the canals that feed it. Streets are residential. Some lots back to water and a boat. Others are interior lots a few blocks from the water. The Shore Acres Recreation Center is the neighborhood gathering place, with a pool, gym, and courts. Downtown St. Petersburg is a short drive, not a walk.
Who it fits
It fits people who want a house, a neighborhood feel, and a shot at a boat or at least being near the water, without paying downtown St. Petersburg prices for every address. Families use the rec center. Boaters care about canal width, depth, and bridges. It is a weaker fit if you want a high-rise condo, a walkable urban block, or a home that never needs a flood conversation.
Housing mix
Most of what you will see is single-family. The older stock is 1950s and 1960s ranch houses, some still original, some fully redone. Mixed in are elevated rebuilds and new construction, including homes built high enough to change how insurance works. Waterfront and bay-front houses are a different product from an interior lot on a similar street. There is no one Shore Acres price. You are shopping a range.
What buyers should know
Most addresses here do not have a mandatory HOA. There is an active civic association, which is not the same thing as a deed-restricted HOA. Still check the title work. A specific lot can have its own recorded restrictions even when the neighborhood as a whole does not.
Flood is the diligence item. Live listings I pulled are in FEMA Zone AE. That is a Special Flood Hazard Area. If you have a federally backed mortgage, flood insurance is typically required. Elevation, whether the house has been raised, the 50 percent rule on renovations, and the seawall (if there is one) all change the monthly cost. Ask for the elevation certificate and the current flood policy. Do not copy the seller's premium and assume it will be yours.
The city has been funding drainage and pump work in Shore Acres. That is useful context, not a promise that a given lot stays dry. Walk the street after a heavy rain if you can, and treat prior flooding as a normal question, not an awkward one.
Frequently asked questions
Does Shore Acres have an HOA?
Usually no mandatory HOA. Confirm on the property you want. A civic association with modest dues is not a substitute for reading the deed.
Is flood insurance required?
On most mortgaged purchases in Zone AE, yes. Budget for it. The quote depends on elevation, foundation, and the building, not on the neighborhood name.
Why is the average price so much higher than the median?
Because a handful of waterfront and new-construction listings sit well above the pack. The median is a better snapshot of a typical house. The average tells you the top end is doing a lot of work. Both load in the listings section above.
Can I get a loan here?
Yes, with eyes open on flood, insurance, and (on some lots) renovation or rebuild plans. I can originate the loan and represent you on the house. Apply for a loan when you want a real payment picture, including flood.
How do I tour homes?
Browse current listings and we will set showings from there. Listing tours do not go through a consultation calendar.
